Rafikun Nabi
Ranabi, who sees the subject as a form, not merely as a subject.
Rafikun Nabi, affectionately known as Ranabi, is among the most recognised figures in Bangladeshi art. For decades his work has moved fluidly between painting, printmaking and the satirical line of his cartoons.
What holds his practice together is a way of seeing: the subject arrives first as a form, a rhythm of shape and weight, and only later as a story. That discipline gives even his most familiar scenes an unexpected structure.
