memories all of a sudden.

These places are not entirely unfamiliar to us. We visit them regularly, and every time we go, something small has shifted — a painting rehung, a light replaced, a bench moved a few feet to the left.

And then, all of a sudden, the memories arrive. Not the grand ones, but the ordinary afternoons we thought we had forgotten.
